The room had a slightly musty odor.

Pleasant staff. Nice bath soaps and bath ameneties. Small fridge, microwave and coffeemaker in the room. Very high ceilings. Good value for the price.

The location was good for us, as we did not want to be in the middle of newport and all its traffice we could get to the beaches and several restaurant.

The water pressure in the showers was not very strong.

We know our way around newport so we were very happy to be out of the thames street traffic. The clarion was near the beaches and our favorite eateries and my relatives so we liked our location. Someone else may wasnt to be closer and be able to walk around thames street. ...read more

It was not stuffy or snotty like a lot of hotels.

It was old so you could hear a lot of noises and doors opening and closing.

A small lounge chair in the room would have added a nice touch to the room.

Good place. You could tell it was previously a nursing home by the layout of the room (not a typical hotel room layout).
